3rd Annual Green Inspiration Contest

"Safe for the whole family, including your pets"

"Safe for the whole family, including your pets"

Who inspires you to live green?

Here’s your chance to recognize and commend that person, and win eco-cool prizes for both of you. Entries are now being accepted for Harmony Clean’s 3rd annual Green Inspiration Contest. Details and entry form are online at www.tinyurl.com/GreenInspiration2012. Deadline is midnight, Earth Day, April 22nd.

Prizes include four hours of green spring cleaning, a gift bucket full of earth-friendly, non-toxic house cleaning supplies, an organic flower arrangement from Harmony Hill Gardens, and four random winners receive an organic cotton Harmony Clean T-shirt. Framed awards are also presented to the top three winners.

“The entry process is quick and easy and since it’s online you can complete the form at any time of day or night,” explains CEO Debi Sarandrea. “Last year’s entrants were so inspiring we posted one quote per week on our Facebook page for Monday Motivation. People wrote about friends, neighbors, grandchildren, parents, even someone’s pet was nominated!” states Harmony Clean president, Vicki Brown. “And we all learn from their examples how we can be better at recycling, take fewer car trips, turn off the lights, conserve water and impact our world by starting right here in our own community,” she adds.

Contest open to Bucks County residents. Winners of the house cleaning prize and organic flower arrangement prize must live within a 12 mile radius of Doylestown, PA. You can also donate your house cleaning prize to the local chapter of either Cleaning For A Reason or Cleaning For Heroes. Thank you and good luck!

A Clear Space = A Clear Mind

iOrganizeYour home is an outward representation of what’s going on inside you. Organize your external space, and gain clarity in your internal space. And spring is a great time to take charge. Here are some expert tips from Organizing Consultant, Christen Fackler, to get you started!

Reasons to be organized:

Save energy. Every item in your home has emotions, responsibilities and decisions attached. How much energy are you wasting on “stuff”?

Save money. When we live simply we are more appreciative of our things and therefore, we tend to avoid buying multiples or unnecessary items.

Save time. A home for everything and everything in its home. This makes for smooth living, packing, unpacking, planning, cleaning, and the list goes on!

Create balance. Surround yourself with items that evenly represent the past, present and future. Look around; do you live too much in the past? Start creating new memories.

Organizing Tips:

Improve your decision-making skills and learn how to become more decisive. Clutter is commonly related to delayed decision-making and procrastination.

Increase self-awareness and know your habits. Take notice of how far you’re willing to dig or search for items in order to stay organized. An open basket for storage might serve you better than a box with a lid inside a cabinet.

Valuable real estate is any space ‘waist to eye level’. It’s the easiest to access. Store important or commonly used items at this level.

Let go! Don’t hold on to things because of guilt.

Plan ahead and allow yourself ample time. Most organizing projects take several hours and even days to complete.  The average coat closet takes approximately 3 hours. Garages, attics and basements can take 24-48 hours.

Enlist help. This is a great task to share with a friend as you can take turns helping each other. However, if the task becomes too daunting or if time is of the essence, consider hiring a professional who can efficiently save you time and energy, and perhaps a bit of sanity too!

Christen Fackler is a Professional Organizing Consultant who helps homeowners find peace and balance in their space – whether it’s one room, the whole house, or their work place. She offers a complimentary 30-minute consultation to help you ‘spring’ into action. Visit www.iOrganizeEverything.com.

Feng Shui for a Harmonious Home

Harmonious Home

Feng Shui begins by clearing the clutter in the physical space of your home allowing for a smoother flow of energy. Soon, you discover more peace and harmony in your personal space, your life, and your relationships.

We spoke with Roberta H. Binder, Feng Shui Master and former owner of Doylestown’s eco-emporium, The Kind Earth, about the relationship between Feng Shui and a clean house. Here are some insights and ideas for attaining extra harmony in your home through this ancient art of placement and energy flow.

HC: If Feng Shui involves the flow of energy, how does that relate to having a clean home?

RHB: Feng Shui (FS) is the art and science of peace and balance. It is achieved by creating smooth pathways for chi (energy) to flow easily through your home. Dirt is usually sticky, stopping the chi, and dust balls are a curiosity so chi will tend to chase them around rather than moving properly through your home. Actually, the first step in bringing balance to your home is through clutter clearing.

HC: Are things such as off-gassing of new furniture and carpets that contribute to indoor air pollution addressed in Feng Shui?

RHB: Most definitely. Environmental pollution is a critical area of concern. It takes the form of off-gassing as you mentioned, electro-magnetic pollution, and even chemical pollution from sources such as the detergent you put into your dishwasher.  The last item presents the easiest fix in terms of simply switching your detergent to a non-toxic brand.

HC: What first steps do you recommend for people interested in exploring the benefits of Feng Shui?

RHB: Even before bringing in a consultant or a pile of new DIY books – I would look at clutter. Clutter lurks in so many places, from the jumble of clothes in your closet to the pile of unread mail on the table.

HC: And then do you feel it is best to start with a DIY book on Feng Shui or consult with a professional?

RHB: Do-It-Yourselfers may be hesitant to pay for a home consultation. However, there are so many confusing books, articles, and internet sites, it is easy to become overwhelmed and decide to chuck the whole idea. Hiring a professional to evaluate your home and provide a personalized report and action plan is well worth the cost. The professional has been trained to see into the places and problems that are difficult to identify yourself in your own home.

HC: What benefits have you seen people experience when a professional Feng Shui consultation has been completed and activated?

RHB: The most remarkable is the peace that settles over the entire family, especially in homes with restless teens. The tension level often just evaporates. And frequently, simple FS enhancements create renewed relationships in marriage. Change may come dynamically and quickly or at a more gradual, but steady rate. Feng Shui is also important when purchasing and selling your home.

HC: Thank you for sharing your wisdom about Feng Shui. For more information, visit Roberta’s site at www.SacredEarthWisdom.com.

Help Save Lives, Get Pampered, Be Green, Have a Clean House & Save Money – Yes It Can All Be Done At Once!

cleanandpamper

DOYLESTOWN, PA (October 4, 2011) – Harmony Clean and Eden Organics team up to raise funds for Gilda’s Club of Delaware Valley with a truly unique service offering. In their passion to help cancer patients lead better lives, they also want to bring Bucks County residents a treat! For the month of October they are offering their new Clean & Pamper for Cancer gift basket at a discounted rate, saving customers $25 while they (or a loved one) enjoy a relaxing, organic facial as their home is being gently cleaned using green products. Plus, $25 from each gift basket will be donated to benefit Gilda’s Club, a non-profit organization that provides support for those touched by cancer in our community.

“We wanted to create something that would benefit not only cancer patients, but also those purchasing the gift basket. Plus our products always look out for the environment. It’s not often you can accomplish all three of those benefits and we are excited at the positive response we have already received.” says Debi Sarandrea, co-owner of Harmony Clean.

“Teaming up for this endeavor just made sense! We knew we had a match since Harmony Clean uses green products in their cleaning business and we are a store and spa dedicated to natural and organic products. They pamper the house and we pamper the person. Why not combine them and make a difference in the lives of our friends and neighbors affected by cancer at the same time?” says Catherine Chamberlain, owner of Eden Organics.

Clean & Pamper for Cancer baskets can be purchased at the Eden Organics’ store at 29 W. State Street in Doylestown or at Harmony Clean at 4095 Ferry Rd., 1C, Doylestown.
